| I gotta say that 2006 six
was a very rough year, with the highlight being the birth of the
Jackaroo! Chris was hired in January by Continental Airlines.
He started training in Houston in Feb for about two months. While
he was gone, we put our house on the market and started the process of
moving back east. The combination of sadness and pregnancy
hormones do not mix well for a cross country move. My Stroller
Strides momma's threw a baby shower for me and a little going away
par-tay after class one day. I think I cried more in the first six
months of 2006 than I ever have in my life.
We sold our house March, with a closing date in April. Chris would be based out of Newark, so we decided to move to Stamford, CT to be close to family. What saved me from my sadness in CT was Chris' family and Stroller Strides. If I didn't have them, I honestly don't know how I would have made it through that long year. Our last day in Cali was a blur. The movers showed up, I took Coby to SS for one last goodbye, Chris finished last minute things in the house, we showered without a shower curtain, piled up mounds of trash outside, thanked our realtor for cleaning up the last bit of the house while we left, headed down 91 in traffic to drop off our car to be shipped, took a cab to LAX, got on the plane with Coby, Mango, and Skyy, Chris sat in the middle of crying Coby on his left and crying Aida on his right, nonstop for 5 1/2 hours. We arrive in Newark and Opa picks us up. It's dark, it's cold, and it's raining.... welcome to the East Coast. Enough happy talk, let's move on. Picture this, the day we are moving into our rental house in CT, Chris gets a call from FedEx. He had been waiting for this call for over a year. We couldn't believe it, but he had to go on that interview. He interviewed in June and found out in July that he was hired - his first day would be December 11th. Now, let's talk about the highlight of the year!!! The birth of the Jackers, the Jackers, the baby Jackaroo! He was born on June 8th in Stamford, CT. Labor was a bit scary and way more stressful than Coby's birth. The umbilical cord was around Jack's neck, the docs and nurses kept constantly running in our room, and we were getting ready to do an emergency C-Section. I guess Jack wanted to come out the old fashioned way so after three pushes and a little vacuum help, he arrived safe and sound. The rest of the year is a little blurry. We made it to Stroller Strides twice a week, we didn't sleep much, we ordered Planet Pizza about three times a week, we dropped the boys off at Gran's a lot and enjoyed some alone time, and we gained about a hundred pounds each! In December, I started Weight Watchers while Chris went to Memphis for FedEx training. In the next three months I lost 25 pounds. Chris was home for the holidays so we went to Oma and Opa's on the 23rd, and headed down to Virginia for Christmas Eve and Christmas. By year's end, the plan was to move back to Cali. We thought Chris would be able to transfer from Memphis within a few years and that he'd just commute. You'll see those plans would soon change....... |
